ITINERARY

Day 1-2

Travel to London Heathrow by complimentary private car (within 50 miles) in time for the departure of your scheduled overnight flight to Delhi, arriving the next day. A private minibus and driver will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel for the first of two nights. On the afternoon of day 2 there is an optional excursion to New Delhi. (B,D)

Day 3

After breakfast, set out for sightseeing of Old and New Delhi, visiting the Red Fort, Humayun’s Tomb, Jama Masjid, Qutub Minar, Chandni Chowk, and the Lotus Temple. Drive passed India Gate, Parliament Street and President’s House. (B,D)

Day 4

This morning you will be driven by private car to Agra visiting Emperor Akbar’s tomb at Sikandra en route. There is an optional sunset visit to the famed Taj Mahal (closed Fridays) – the magnificent monument of love. The construction of the Taj Mahal began in 1631, and is believed to have taken over 20,000 craftsmen 18 years to complete it. It was masterminded by the Emperor Shah Jehan in memory of his beloved Queen. (B,D)

Day 5

Early risers can enjoy a dawn visit to witness the Taj Mahal glow in the changing light of the rising sun – a truly magical moment. The other highlight of Agra is the Agra Fort which also offers views of the Taj Mahal down the river. You will be guided through the various chambers of this vast royal residence. In the afternoon, continue the journey to Jaipur visiting the deserted, pink-sandstone city of Fatehpur Sikri on the way. The city was built by Akbar the Great in the 16th century but was soon abandoned because there wasn’t enough water. The architectural grandeur of this deserted city cannot be described in words and one can only experience the aura of its magnificent edifices by seeing them.You will also visit the mysterious step-wells at Abhaneri, whose construction began in the 3rd century. Arrive in Jaipur and check in to your hotel. (B)

Day 6

Popularly known as the Pink City, Jaipur was founded in 1727 A.D. by one of the greatest rulers of the Kachawaha clan – Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh who then made it Rajasthan’s capital city. In its wide streets, crafts such as jewellery, metalwork, enamelling, stone carving, pottery and leather work still exist to this day. It is a timeless city where the ancient and modern co-exist in complete harmony. Today’s excursion includes the 18th century City Palace complex with its numerous outbuildings, courtyards, impressive gateways and temples, the Palace of the Winds and the 16th century Amber Fort, one of the great sights of Rajasthan. Day 7

This morning you will be transferred to Jaipur airport for your short domestic flight to Udaipur, one of the most romantic cities of Rajasthan. Udaipur is better known as the City of Lakes. The Rajputs built this wonderful city on the shores of Lake Pichola in the 16th Century. The marble palaces, the beautiful gardens and the placid lakes enhance the beauty of this city. In the afternoon, enjoy a leisurely cruise on the serene Lake Pichola. (B)

First Class : Grand Laxmi Vilas Palace

Day 8

After breakfast, today’s excursion will take you to the City Palace. Approached through Tripolia Gate, it has several carved balconies, arches and pillars. Located inside are the Suraj Gokhada or Sun Balcony, Bada Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Bhim Vilas, Chini Chitrasala and Mor Chowk. The Zenana Mahal, Fateh Prakash, Durbar Hall and Shambu Niwas are other places of interest. At a short distance away is the popular Sahelion-ki-Bari with its four pools and delicately carved kiosks and elephants in marble. (B)

Day 9

Today your private transfer continues to the Sardargarh Heritage Castle stopping en route to explore the Jain Temples of Ranakpur. Sardargarh is one of the most magnificent Forts in Rajasthan, located amidst the mountains and deep forests of Chuppun. As you approach the Fort from the low-lying terrains of the sedate Lawa Village, you will see its majestic ramparts which have been standing sentinel for centuries. In its 268 years of existence it has indeed withstood many military assaults and sieges. Spread out across the inner sanatorium of the Fort are a host of Palatial structures, all spellbinding specimens of Rajput Architecture with a hint of Mughal influence. It is the Zenana Palace which today is part of the Sardargarh Hotel. This authentic historic interlude provides an extraordinary experience. Even the underground passage systems , rooms, halls, granaries and stores are maintained in excellent condition and are accessible to visitors. (B,D)

Day 10

Your private journey continues to Jodhpur, the ‘blue city’ steeped in history and dominated by one of India’s mightiest fortresses, the Mehrangarh Fort. Arrive and check in at your hotel. This afternoon is at leisure to relax or maybe take an optional jeep safari through the local villages. (B,D)

First Class : Ajit Bhawan

Day 11

Spreading over 5 kms on a perpendicular hill, the fort appears rugged and and impenetrable from the outside but houses some of the most intricately adorned palaces. From the upper ramparts you will have unrivalled 360 degree views of Jodhpur. It takes most of a day to explore. You will also visit the Jaswant Thada monument, an imposing white marble cenotaph made-up of exquisitely carved gazebos, a multi-tiered garden and a lake. (B,D)

First Class : Ajit Bhawan

Day 12

Your journey continues westwards to day through the spectacular Thar Desert to the arid brilliance of the Desert City of Jaiselmer, India’s gateway to the silk and spice routes for 700 years. (B)

First Class : Killa Bhawan

Day 13

Todays excursion takes you to Gadsisar Lake, an ancient reservoir, once very precious to this arid city. You will also visit the Sonar Kila (Golden Fort). Very few cities can boast of the magnificence which surrounds Jaiselmer. Here is a fort that seems to rise out of desert haze, its yellow sandstone walls taking on a golden hue in the afternoon sun. Today this remote citadel is famous for its carved havelies, its cobbled streets and its ancient Jain temples.

Outside of the fort is the main market place called the Manek Chowk which is the centre of the local activity. You can walk through the lanes where the famous carved havelies are to be found. (B)

First Class : Killa Bhawan

Day 14

Witness the people and wildlife of the desert as you journey to the village of Bhap. This authentic little village is busy with energy, spirit and a soul of old India. At the local markets you will see primitive business at work, using old handcrafted tools on wood, pottery, leather and metal. (B,D)

First Class : Barsingha Villa

Day 15

Enjoy a full breakfast before departing on your morning tour of the primitive Adobe villages, salt beds and a visit to the local school. Later in the afternoon you will be taken on a desert safari tour to watch the amazing animal activity as the sun goes down. You will see a herd of 450 camels grazing in sand dunes, shepherds bringing their goats and sheep for the night, water buffalo, monkeys, cattle and wild peacock, all coming in to water at Kingfisher Lake. You will take a camel ride or wagon to a Dhani farm house, to have cocktails and an Indian Bhoj on the rooftop to watch the amazing sunset. A safari vehicle will then return you to the Villa for dinner. (B,D)

Day 16

After breakfast you will be driven to Jodhpur for your flight to Delhi to connect with your onward flight back to London arriving the following day. (B)

Delhi
Maidens Hotel 4*

Maidens Hotel is one of Delhi's oldest hotels, built in the early 1900s, and has retained its colonial charm and architecture. Set amidst eight acres of lush gardens, shady trees and tennis courts, it escapes the noise of the main city, but remains within easy access to some of the most magnificent Mughal monuments, and the famous Chandni Chowk shopping centre with its quaint bazaars and meandering lanes. Agra

Set amidst beautiful gardens, fountains, landscaped central courtyards, The Trident is built of red stone reminiscent of the Mughal era. Lawa
Sardargargh Fort Heritage Hotel 5*

Sardargarh, one of the magnificent forts of Rajasthan, is an extravagant creation built in 1743 amidst the mountains, deep forests and lake of Chuppun.
