My ultimate ambition has been to run my own travel company and staff it with knowledgeable, enthusiastic experts who together restore the personal touch to luxury travel. To offer authenticity and amazement, with hand picked hotels of exceptional quality instead of mass market accommodation, the best local guides who bring a destination to life and imaginative journeys, instead of the obvious tourist trails.

 

I was born in Kenya and spent a nomadic childhood in Africa and the Middle East. Imbued with the spirit of travel at an early age, I made a number of adventurous overland journeys in the 1970s and 1980s, including drives from the United Arab Emirates to the UK (via Iran), through China and Siberia and following graduation, from the UK to Australia by VW camper van.

 

Travel became my passion and inevitably, the travel industry beckoned. I began my career as a travel consultant with Trailfinders in London, during which time I travelled extensively, particularly throughout Southern Africa and the Himalaya. Ten years at Kuoni and the role of Product Director presented me with many more globetrotting opportunities for travel, particularly in South America, the Far East and the Indian Ocean.

 

With 16 years in the travel industry, it was time to realise my aspiration. Motivated by my own passion and creativity, I set up Beyond. Whether you would like to combine the mystical rock hewn churches of Lalibela with a Tanzanian safari, or a journey through the vast Wahiba Sands desert of Oman to the imposing gorges of the Musandam Peninsula, Beyond’s travel experts will know how to make it happen in style for the best value possible.
