North Island

HHHHH

INTRODUCTION

The romantic ideal of a Robinson Crusoe hideaway is something often promised but seldom delivered, but North Island is a place where you will genuinely feel you’re alone in paradise. If privacy is high on your agenda then this is the ultimate retreat. Often voted No. 1 in the world, it offers five-star eco-friendly luxury.

LOCATION

North Island is the northernmost of the 115 islands that make up the Seychelles archipelago. It is part of the granite group of islands which also includes Mahe and Praslin, located off the western coast 60 minutes transfer time from Mahe airport.

ACCOMMODATION

Like all the buildings on North Island, the villas – built of stone, glass, thatch and wood, are richly textured and decorated in a natural palette so they work in harmony with their surroundings. There are only 11 villas located on a pristine beach, each an impressive 450 square metres so you can luxuriate in space and seclusion. The master bedroom leads to a large en-suite bathroom with marble bath and two showers, one indoor and one outdoor. The bedrooms are air-conditioned and all rooms have overhead ‘punkah punkah’ fans. There’s an additional bedroom/living room with study, making them ideal for couples or families. Each comes with satellite TV, DVD, CD, Internet access and a private plunge pool. The fully retracting sliding doors allow for uninterrupted views onto the lawns and the turquoise seas in front of each villa. Each villa has an electric 4x4 buggy.

Villa North Island (the 11th villa) is completely unique in its siting. Designed to accommodate the incline along the extreme northern side of the Anse d’est Beach and is secretly tucked away in the Takamaka forest. The beach views from this Villa are truly spectacular from every angle and it is this, together with the unique manipulation of the design, which separates this remarkable Villa from the rest.

FACILITIES

Culinary aspects of Seychelles, France and southern Indian spices are combined with the organic resources of North Island including the fresh fish on offer from the Indian Ocean. The hotel’s no menu concept means you decide exactly when, where and what you want to eat after a private consultation with the chef. The culinary experience is equally complimented by an impressive cellar with some of the world’s great wines and champagnes. A sundowner at The North Island Sunset Bar along Grande Anse Beach is an enlivening experience not to be missed.

  • As well as the private pools, there is a main infinity-edged pool with stunning elevated views to the ocean.

  • In-villa spa treatments including a complimentary 20 minute massage on arrival.

  • The Spa is situated in a stunning location on a hillside above the ocean. Specially tailored programmes, in consultation with spa therapists, are designed to meet your individual needs.

  • Dive centre.

  • Kayaks.

  • Mountain bikes are also available to explore the island.

  • Adjacent to the activity centre is the library, built of coral blocks and one of the most exquisite examples of architecture on the island.
